FINALE

Image
This quarter gave me sad and happy, sad 'cause we will now completing this school year and we will leaving each other 'cause we have not the same path that we will taking in, happy 'cause we are now closer to our future to become successful someday. I was able to overcome these challenges through accepting these, that there is no permanent in this world, everything in this world changes. And it is really our time to take another step of our journey but we will be depart from each other. Indeed, Fourth Grading Period is very a tough period I've been faced of that makes me cry. But I'm glad that I surpassed all those sadness and I'm very happy because I learned so much and experienced many unforgettable moments that we have been made us classmates and we're not just a classmates, we are brothers and sisters, we grow together and will bring the victory for our life. Moving on, I will use those people as my inspiration and motivation to keep on going. ...

B'COMING TO SERVE

Image
Police officers are true protectors of a community. They spend their lives serving and protecting humanity. That is why I want to be a police officer to spend all my life protecting people and serving humanity, to protect good from evil, to protect people who are in need, and make sure everyone is safe and following the rules and laws of our country, . Since I was a kid, whenever I saw a police officer in uniform I watched him until he disappeared from my eyes. And I wanted to be a good, brave, and honest police officer. Sometimes I imagine that I am wearing the uniform and I am a police officer and I am on duty. That’s the most amazing feeling I cannot describe that. Hopefully I will achieve my goals and become a good police officer. And I am sure if I work hard towards it, I will. I have looked at different kinds of websites for different types of police careers. I love them all. Their duties are different, but their main goals are the same: to serve our country in many w...

GREAT HIGH SUR

Image
Foundation Day is the most awaited and the busiest occasion celebrated in our school. Ilocos Sur National High School annually celebrates this special occasion to commemorate the day when the school was founded or established. Commemorating the school foundation day is significant since it is the chance to remind the students about the humble beginnings of their educational institution. This could help them better appreciate the improvements they are currently enjoying which have been worked-hard for by school authorities, parents, and students that came before them.      The 118th ISNHS Foundation Day was celebrated last March 1-2, 2020.The first day of the event was consumed for the Coronation Day, wherein the new king and queen are formally crowned, and also the 1st to 9th princes and princess are recognized. As the second and most awaited day arrives, everyone is enveloped with excitement and nervous. The second day started with the ...

MAKANNAWIDA'K

The old and the new in Ilocano culture are both featured in this year’s Kannawidan Ylocos Festival -  the festival of Ilocos Sur that celebrates its being a separate province and its being a treasure chest of traditions and culture. Held in the Heritage City of Vigan from January 28 to February 17,  the festival opened with the residents’ expression of gratitude to the blessings of God on January 28. During the opening of the festival on January 29 at Kannawidan grounds in Barangay Tamag, an ethnic dance called ‘tadek’ was performed by 100 students of Grades 7 to 12 and teachers of San Emilio National High School. “Tadek” is an indigenous opening ritual. Some of the students continued performing ‘tadek’ during the formal opening of the food, trade fairs, and exhibits. Gov. Singson acknowledged the help of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the conduct of provincial activities. He reminded the teachers who attended the first day of the festival that the event n...

CHANGE FOR ALL

Image
It starts with a hope, or a thought that things can be better than they are now. Then, exploring how that might happen. Accepting that we do have the power to make change. It’s doing this versus dwelling on the negative, blaming others, shutting down new ideas, thinking it’s not worth the effort, or whatever other negative self-talk may be taking place. All those things cause us to be stuck. You control the dialogue with yourself. If your response to everything is “I can’t, I can’t,” you will stop change from happening. I admit–I’ve been guilty of this before. What I needed to do was turn that around. To really believe the “change starts with you” mantra. It’s usually a pretty strong reaction to something.  This is when change makes you, because you are confronted with something–stress, or a specific situation. In order to make change at any level of “stuckness,” you have to identify a small action you can take and from there gain momentum. This is, in part, what I...

The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to far places. Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Paul and it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27. Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to...

THE NEW HAS COME

Image
To everything that is part of our old nature—natural pride, love of sin, reliance on works, and our former opinions, habits and passions. Most significantly, what we loved has passed away, especially the supreme love of self and with it self-righteousness, self-promotion, and self-justification. The new creature looks outwardly toward Christ instead of inwardly toward self. The old things died, nailed to the cross with our sin nature. Along with the old passing away, “the new has come!” Old, dead things are replaced with new things, full of life and the glory of God. Our purposes, feelings, desires, and understandings are fresh and different. We see the world differently. The Bible seems to be a new book, and though we may have read it before, there is a beauty about it which we never saw before, and which we wonder at not having perceived. The whole face of nature seems to us to be changed, and we seem to be in a new world. There are new feelings toward all people—a n...
