VALUE OUR VALUES
All public and private schools nationwide are encouraged by the Department of Education (DepEd) to hold activities related to the national observance of the Filipino Values Month (FVM) this November.
For this year, the theme of the FVM celebration is “Pamilyang Pilipino Patatagin: Susi sa Paghubog ng Kabataang Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakakalikasan at Makabansa” which “emphasizes the importance and critical role of the family in strengthening Filipino values and developing individuals who are pro-God, pro-people, pro-country, and pro-nature especially in this digital age.”
Education Secretary Leonor Briones, in DepEd Memorandum no. 161 series of 2019, issued the guidelines on the conduct of this year’s observance of the Filipino Values Month. The FVM, she explained, “aims to mobilize all Filipinos for nation building through the practical exercise of human values in our daily lives as citizens and to awaken all to the power of these values in achieving the individual and national goals.”
The FVM, DepEd noted, targets to mobilize all citizens – including the learners – to contribute to nation-building through upholding Filipino values, and to instill the power of these values and ideals in achieving individual success and national progress.

DepEd noted that the FVM celebration is also anchored on the mandate of Republic Act 10533, otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, which aims to produce holistically developed and socially responsible citizens equipped not only with lifelong competencies, but also with essential values.
